Dress up the Dogs

Looking for a new twist to dress up your regular hot dog dinners?  Check out some of these creative ways to "dress up the dogs."

Pigs in a Blanket

These delicious easy dogs will certainly bring on the raves.  Additional ingredients such as grated onion, herbs, bacon, and condiments can also be added.  Also, feel free to get exotic with different kinds of cheeses.

Ingredients:
  • hot dogs (The number varies according to how many you want.  For starters, we used 10 Oscar Myer's dogs.
  • 1 can Pillsbury pizza dough
  • sliced American cheese  (The number varies according to how much cheese you need.)

Start by rolling the pizza dough out on a cookie sheet to equal a little over 1 x 1 ft.  (NOTE:  No flour or spray is needed to prevent sticking.)  Then, with a pizza cutter, slice into however many hot dogs you have.  (I cut mine into 10 strips.)  Remember, your strips don't have to be perfect.
.
Next, wrap your hot dogs in sliced cheese.  (NOTE:  At this point if you are adding onions etc. you can sprinkle them on top of the cheese and begin to wrap your dogs with the strips of dough.  Obviously, stuff might squirt out and be messy, but that is A-OK!)

Repeat for all your dogs.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.  You'll probably see cheese protruding out at this point, but that's fine.

Enjoy!

Daddy's Pizza Dogs

Being my dad's famous recipe, these dogs combine the flavor of pizza, pepperoni, and hot dogs all in one.  All that you need are a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients:
  • 1 jar RAGU'S pizza sauce
  • hot dogs
  • cheese
  • hot dog buns or bread
  • pepperoni slices (optional)

Cook the hot dogs according to package directions and heat sauce and pepperonis until hot.  Add sauce to your hot dog bun or bread.  Wrap your hot dog in cheese and place on bun or bread.

"MMMM!  Delicious!"
The kids love these.
Some direct quotes:  "Those are REALLY GOOD!"
"Can I have another one?"
